State trooper injured after patrol car struck by suspected DUI driver


A state trooper was injured in Lynnwood on Sunday morning after being hit by an intoxicated driver.

According to a release by Washington State Patrol, Trooper Brent Campbell was inside his patrol vehicle working the radar on the right shoulder on northbound SR 525 near the I-5 interchange when the vehicle was struck from behind.

Both the driver of the second vehicle, a 46-year-old man from Arlington, and Campbell were injured in the crash and were taken to Swedish Edmonds.

The driver of the second vehicle was arrested on suspected DUI charges. The release does not clarify whether the driver is suspected of drinking or using drugs.
