Illinois woman’s stolen vehicle and U-Haul box truck recovered in Lynnwood

A mini-van, U-Haul box truck and trailer stolen from an Illinois woman, who was moving to Alaska for a new job, were recovered Friday afternoon in a Lynnwood neighborhood near Filbert Road and North Damson Road in unincorporated Snohomish County.

Kristen Shaulis was moving from Illinois to Alaska for a new job. She stopped in Everett on Wednesday night at the Best Western Hotel, located at 2800 Pacific Ave. When she went outside Thursday morning, Shaulis discovered the U-Haul and car dolly, with her vehicle, had been stolen. Everything Shaulis owned was inside the U-Haul.

At about 2 p.m., Friday, 911 call takers received a report of an abandoned vehicle in a Lynnwood neighborhood in unincorporated Snohomish County. Deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and located the U-Haul box truck, trailer and Chrysler Town and Country minivan within blocks of each other. License plates on the vehicles had been replaced with ones from other states.

Everett Police detectives responded to the scene to recover the vehicles and are working with the victim to facilitate the return of her property. It is unknown if anything is missing. The case is under investigation and detectives are working leads along with physical evidence from the scene.
