Slick roads cause major I-5 accident

Wet conditions may have contributed to a one-vehicle accident on southbound I-5 beneath the 236th Street Southwest overpass just before 7 p.m. on Sunday. One person was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital; the extent of their injuries was unknown. Crews from the Washington State Patrol, Snohomish County Fire District 1, the Shoreline Fire Department and the Lynnwood Fire Department responded to the scene. Three lanes of southbound I-5 were blocked for approximately 25 minutes due to the accident. (Photo by Doug Petrowski)
