More than 250 elementary students took over Edmonds’ Civic Field for the second of three Track and Field meets sponsored by Verdant Heath Commission and the Boys and Girls Club.  Events included footraces, hurdles, relay races, javelin, shot put and more.

It’s all part of the Healthy Habits program operating in seven area “Super Schools.” Each school has its own team, and all sports are dedicated toward overall fitness and health through education and self-awareness, with an emphasis on fun, safety, and team skills. The practices focus on learning the fundamentals, team-building and school spirit. These sports provide fitness activities to youth of all athletic abilities, in a non-competitive style.

This year’s Super Schools are: Edmonds Elementary, Sherwood Elementary, Westgate Elementary, Lynndale Elementary, Cedar Valley Community School, Hazelwood Elementary and the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club.
