Lynnwood Police were called to Alderwood mall at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday after security there alerted police of a man in the food court who looked similar to a wanted felony suspect from a recent crime bulletin.
A motorcycle officer was performing a high-risk stop of the known wanted felon as he was trying to leave the mall, when the suspect charged the officer, running into the uniformed officer and his marked police motorcycle, according to Lynnwood Police Public Information Officer Shannon Sessions.
The officer, who has been with department for 12 years, was transported to Swedish Edmonds Hospital for evaluation. He didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries.
After hitting the officer and his motorcycle, the suspect continued accelerating, driving over curbing, through landscaping, across a sidewalk and crashing into two parked vehicles. That collision overturned one of the parked cars and pushed it into a second parked vehicle that was occupied by a 25 year-old Snohomish woman.
The woman was shaken but didn’t have any serious injuries. She was treated by aid unit and released at the scene.
