We’ve learned more about the major remodel that’s under way at the Target store in Lynnwood. A company spokesperson said they are adding the ‘PFresh’ grocery concept:
Our expanded fresh food layout involves a remodel of our general merchandise stores that provides our guests with new food additions —including items that are on their grocery shopping lists every week — such as limited assortments of fresh produce (i.e. bananas, seasonal fruit, berries, baby carrots and bagged groceries), fresh meat and pre-packaged baked goods (i.e. dinner rolls and pies).
Although limited in assortment, our expanded fresh food offerings provide our guests with 90 percent of the food categories that are in a SuperTarget store and about 40 percent more food offerings than a general merchandise location and while the area dedicated to food is often larger in the remodeled store, the overall square footage of the store typically remains the same. Our typical general merchandise store is approximately 135,000 square feet.
The PFresh concept is different from a SuperTaget, which feature a full-service supermarket, including a bakery and deli. SuperTarget stores also are significantly larger.
The renovation is expected to be complete in October.
