On July 8, teens ages 13-17 will be able to create their own hand-built projects in a new basics of clay building class offered by ArtsNow/uLearn at Edmonds Community College.
Whether students are new to working in clay, or have previously taken pottery classes, this is a great opportunity for them to experiment and explore. Participants will create a pinch project, a coil project and a slab project. In addition, they will explore pit or raku firing.
Instructor Judy Ridgway has been working and playing with clay for the past 18 years. For 15 of those years, she has taught wheel throwing and various hand-building techniques to a variety of students. She works as a teacher’s aid in the for-credit ceramics classes at Edmonds Community College and is the Lab Tech the Pottery Studio.
Clay, glazes and firing are included in the $195 class fee. Register online by visiting edcc.edu/artsnow or by phone at the ArtsNow/uLearn office, 425-640-1243.
