An enthusiastic crowd made history at Wednesday night’s Terrace Idol finals as the Audience Trophy vote ended in a tie between Katy Bodnar and Lucas Pope, two Mountlake Terrace High School students who were named co-winners of the trophy. Bodnar picked up the Judges Trophy from the three-judge panel of Emily Brotherton, Mackenzie Thoms and Frank Blosser.

The other students competing in Wednesday’s finals were Terrace’s Senaiet Zerom and Lynnwood High School’s Abby Martinez and Auryana Ashoori. Last year’s winner, Kaitlin Martin, also performed during the two-hour show.

Bodnar said she was excited and surprised by the night’s results. Coming from a musical family, Bodnar said she has been singing “since I was really little,” and learned to play guitar with some help from her dad.
