The cities of Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds were presented a “Program Award” from the Washington Recreation and Park Association (WRPA) for their three-year, third grade swim lesson program funded by a grant from Verdant Health Commission.
This is the second year of the program in which all third graders within the boundaries of the hospital district can receive three free sessions of swimming lessons at any of the three pools. During the 2011-12 school year, this program served over 420 third graders, with 720 sets of swimming lessons.
As the new program of Public Hospital District No. 2, Snohomish County, Verdant Health Commission is focused on investing in innovative programs that will make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of South Snohomish County residents.
