Tom Davis confirmed as Lynnwood’s Police Chief

The Lynnwood City Council (rear) celebrates the confirmation of Tom Davis (center) as Lynnwood’s police chief, along with several members of the Lynnwood Police Department.

Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith, City Council and several members of the Lynnwood Police Department congratulated Police Chief Tom Davis as he was officially confirmed into the position on Monday night.

Davis has been serving as Interim Police Chief since early August 2016. He took over the department from Lynnwood Deputy Chief Bryan Stanifer, who had held the position of Interim Chief for about three months, after Chief Steven Jensen retired in May.

Council and city staff gave Davis a standing ovation after his confirmation. He went through three panel interviews during the application process.

“It is very humbling to be given this opportunity,” Davis said. “When I came here eight months ago, I learned there is an amazing police department here.”

There will be a swearing-in ceremony for Davis on Tuesday, April 18 at 3 p.m. at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. S.W. The public is invited to attend.
