Recycle your Christmas tree while supporting Boy Scouts

Starting this weekend you can recycle your Christmas tree while supporting local Boy Scout troops. Drop-off and pick-up information is below. All decorations and tinsel must be removed. Flocked trees are not accepted and must be disposed of as garbage.

Troop 312 (drop-off)
Saturday, Jan. 1 and Sunday, Jan. 2, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

QFC parking lot, 196th St. SW and 76th Ave. W

Troop 49 (pick-up and drop-off)
Sunday, Jan. 2 and Saturday Jan. 8, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Drop-off is available at the Alderwood Boys and Girls Club, 19719 24th Ave. W in Lynnwood.

Within the greater Alderwood Manor area for curbside collection: area east of 44th Ave. W. and I-5 east to I-405, south to Brier toward Bothell.

Most homes should have received a notice of this service, along with a pre-addressed envelope. Residents can place their tree at the curb by 8 a.m. on either collection day. Checks can be made out to BSA Troop 49 and placed in the envelope. Residents can either mail the check in the envelope, fasten it securely to the tree. or visit www.troop49wa.org to pay with PayPal.

Troop 304 (pick-up and drop-off)
Saturday, Jan. 8 and Sunday, Jan. 9 between 8 a.m. – 4:30 pm.

Drop-off is available one block north of 196th St. SW along 56th Ave. W., just west of Wilcox Park.

Within the city limits of Lynnwood north to 148th St. SW for curbside collection: most homes should have already received a notice of this service, along with an envelope. Residents can place their tree at the curb by 8 a.m. on either collection day. Donations by check can be made out to BSA Troop 304 and placed in the envelope. Residents can mail the check in the envelope or fasten it securely to the tree.

Troop 65 (pick-up)
Saturday, Jan. 8, daylight hours

Neighborhoods that are within the boundaries of 44th Ave. W on the west, Maple Rd. on the south, 164th St. SW on the north, and stretching east past 36th Ave. W to SR 525. The troop will be collecting in the residential areas between and including Manor Way and Ash Way, north to 148th St. SW.

Residents who received Troop 65’s notice (with attached envelope)need to place their tree at the curb by 8 a.m. on collection day. Checks can be made out to Troop 65, inserted in the envelope, then mailed to Troop 65, 14925 19th Ave. W, Lynnwood WA 98087, or fastened securely to the tree.

Snohomish County transfer stations

You can also take your tree to one of the county’s recycling and transfer stations: Airport Road in Everett, Arlington or Mountlake Terrace. Charge is $5 per tree.
