Well-known crime prevention specialist retires from Lynnwood Police

After nearly 18 years, Trudy Dana has retired from the Lynnwood Police Department.

Dana has been program coordinator for more than 20 successful Citizens Academies and other community programs. She’s also the founder and supervisor of the nationally recognized and award winning Lynnwood Police Citizens Patrol volunteer group.

“Trudy has contributed to the police department in so many ways. She has been an anchor of our volunteer efforts and our citizen’s academy,” said Police Chief Steve Jensen. “She has worked tirelessly in making our volunteer programs function in an exemplary manner benefiting our police staff and the community.”

Dana has also worked in the schools and wrote two child safety books. She’s working on her third book.

“Over the years, she has proven to be a kind and gracious person who demonstrated a servant’s heart. Trudy cared deeply for her community and loved her work,” City Council Member Loren Simmonds.

Dana plans to spend time with two granddaughters and travel with her husband.
