Two car fires involving the same vehicle kept Lynnwood firefighters busy Sunday night.
The first one started around 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Headrush coffee stand 44th and 212th. The owner of a 1997 BMW said she experienced a short in her dashboard lights. When she stopped the car and stepped out, smoke filled the passenger compartment and it soon erupted into flames. When firefighters arrived the car was fully engulfed. They used tank water to extinguish the fire.
Later that night, another car fire was reported at a vehicle storage yard at 206th and 48th. Assistant Fire Chief Leroy McNulty told us it appears to be the same car as the first fire. The battery began to smoke and a person in the storage lot called the fire department. Crews opened the trunk and disconnected the battery.
No one was hurt in either incident.
