Verdant and City of Lynnwood offering summer walking programs

verdantThe Verdant Health Commission and the City of Lynnwood are partnering to get people walking outdoors this summer with a statewide non-profit, Feet First.

The goal is to not only get people active, but also to promote walkable communities, by leading group walks that connect and inspire the community. The next community walk is scheduled for 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 8 at Spruce Park in Lynnwood. There also are other walks scheduled throughout the summer.

These free walks provide people with an opportunity to explore their community while meeting new neighbors. Led by Neighborhood Walking Ambassadors, these walks are intended to get people moving outdoors this summer in an inviting and friendly atmosphere. No registration is required, but you can indicate your interest or review upcoming dates on Feet First’s MeetUp page.

Check out Verdant’s website for a list of the currently scheduled walks. You also are invited to Lynnwood’s Homestead & History Tour on Monday, July 20. Meet at the parking lot across from Fire Station #15 (18800 44th Ave. W), at 10 a.m. to learn more about some of Lynnwood’s most significant historical sites and local Alderwood Manor history. The walk will last two hours with a mid-point stop at the Lynnwood Library allowing walkers to do the first half from 10-11 a.m., or the second half from 11 a.m.-noon.
