Verdant, City of Lynnwood launch summer group walks; Heritage Park walk set for Sunday morning

verdantThe Verdant Health Commission and the City of Lynnwood working with statewide non-profit Feet First to get people walking outdoors this summer with group walks that connect and inspire the community.

These free walks provide people with an opportunity to explore their community while meeting new neighbors. Led by Neighborhood Walking Ambassadors, these walks are intended to get people moving outdoors this summer in an inviting and friendly atmosphere. No registration is required, but you can indicate your interest or review upcoming dates on Feet First’s MeetUp page.

Here is a list of walks with more scheduled be added. Check Verdant’s website calendar in the coming weeks.

  • Sunday, July 12 at 11 a.m. for Heritage Park Neighborhood Walk. Length: a one-hour walk in the neighborhood surrounding Heritage Park, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Heritage Park (by the chicken and kids sculpture), 19921 Poplar Way in Lynnwood.
  • Monday, July 13 at 5:30 p.m. for Trails to Transit Walk. Distance: 3.25 miles, flat, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Verdant Community Wellness Center, 4710 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.
  • Wednesday, July 15 at 6 p.m. for Park 2 Park Walk. Distance: 4.4 miles with some hilly, wooded areas, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Spruce Park (near the bathrooms), 16864 36th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
  • Monday, July 20 at 10 a.m. for Lynnwood Homestead & History Walk. Distance: 3.4 miles in approximately 75 minutes, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Lynnwood Fire Station #15 overflow parking across the street from the station, 18800 44th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
  • Wednesday, July 22 at 6 p.m. for Park 2 Park Walk. Distance: 4.4 miles with some hilly, wooded areas, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Spruce Park (near the bathrooms), 16864 36th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
  • Monday, July 27 at 5:30 p.m. for Trails to Transit Walk. Distance: 3.25 miles, flat, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Verdant Community Wellness Center, 4710 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.
  • Wednesday, July 29 at 6 p.m. for Park 2 Park Walk. Distance: 4.4 miles with some hilly, wooded areas, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Spruce Park (near the bathrooms), 16864 36th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
  • Wednesday, August 5 at 6 p.m. for the Move 60! Family Walk. Distance: 2.4 miles around the Golf Course Trail, mostly flat, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Edmonds School District Educational Service Center, Front Parking Lot, 20420 68th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
  • Monday, August 10 at 5:30 p.m. for Trails to Transit Walk. Distance: 3.25 miles, flat, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Verdant Community Wellness Center, 4710 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.
  • Wednesday, August 12 at 6 p.m. for Park 2 Park Walk. Distance: 4.4 miles with some hilly, wooded areas, not ADA-accessible. Meeting location: Spruce Park (near the bathrooms), 16864 36th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
