The Edmonds School District has been awarded an $80,000 grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission for the purchase and installation of flashing beacons to warn drivers of the presence of school kids in designated school zones.
The beacons will support safety at Beverly, College Place, Lynndale, Spruce, and Meadowdale elementary schools, as well as at College Place and Meadowdale middle schools. The cities where the schools are located will monitor and maintain the new beacons at no cost to the District.
