Welcome to our new sponsor, the Rotary Club of Edmonds Daybreakers, which is sponsoring the 15th annual Edmonds Jazz Connection Festival set for Saturday, May 23 in downtown Edmonds.
The Edmonds Jazz Connection is a local music festival that includes a full day of performances from award–winning high school jazz programs throughout the Pacific Northwest, and also highlights numerous student groups that have performed in prestigious competitions nationwide.
In addition to connecting the community with student jazz musicians, the event serves as a fundraiser to directly support school music programs and students. The Daybreakers Rotary Club works directly with school district leadership and choral and band directors to identify the most pressing needs of school music programs. All proceeds from this year’s event will go toward:
- Expanding scholarships for student musicians continuing their education at college, university or trade school.
- Establishing quarterly Pro-Am clinics for students to work directly with professional musicians on development of improvisational performing skills.
- Awarding block grants to schools for enhancing musical study and increasing accessibility to musical programs.
More than $25,000 in scholarships and grants will be awarded during this year’s program. Admission is free, and donations will be accepted to support educational and scholarship programs. You can contribute online at donations.jazzconnection.org. More information can be found on the Jazz Connection website and Facebook page.
