‘Help’ is needed to build a playground at Westgate Elementary

The rusted playground equipment at Westgate Elementary is an average of 30 years old. Some of it dates back to 1958, when the school was built.

Now the school is in the running for money to build a new playground.

Westgate is one of ten finalists to win up to $5,000 toward new playground equipment through KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that helps communities build playgrounds. To receive the grant they need their project voted as the favorite. They’ve even made a black-and-white video set to the Beatles’ song “Help.” Currently their video is in fourth place.

To vote, just go to the KaBOOM! Web site and find the”Westgate Project.” The deadline for voting is March 31.
