Whole Foods plans to open a Lynnwood location

Whole Foods Market is planning to open a location in Lynnwood. The popular supermarket, which specializes in natural and organic foods, will be located in the former Circuit City building at 196th Street SW and 28th Avenue West (next to Lowe’s and across from Babies ‘R’ Us.)

“Lynnwood is a community that we have been looking to join for a number of years now,” Marketing Coordinator David Hulbert told us. “As this point in the process we do not have a timeline set for a grand opening.”

Currently Whole Foods has stores in Seattle’s Roosevelt, Westlake and Interbay areas, and in Redmond and Bellevue.

By the way, we’re still waiting to hear what major tenant will be opening at the former Lynnwood High School site across from Alderwood Mall.

  1. What a strange choice of location and timing… opening a Whole Paycheck… I mean, “Whole Foods” in a decidedly working-class, decidedly un-shih-shih town in the middle of a depression. Brilliant.

  2. What a strange choice of location and timing… opening a Whole Paycheck… I mean, “Whole Foods” in a decidedly working-class, decidedly un-shih-shih town in the middle of a depression. Brilliant.

  3. Head west on 196th until it hits the water and is known as Puget Drive, and you’re in a decidedly different demographic = Edmonds

  4. Well if the people of Lynnwood have enough money to shop at Whole Foods we certainly have enough to pay more in taxes. You hear that city counsel? Tax increases all around!

  5. Interesting location choice. There’s no grocery anywhere in this vicinity (the closest would probably be the Albertson’s up by Mountlake Terrace, or Fred Meyer’s all the way at 44th). Maybe it’ll work. They’re obviously depending on the Mall for people with more upscale pocketbooks.

But a Trader Joe’s there would do much better.

    1. There’s a Trader Joes not a mile and a half up the damn street on Hwy 99! *lol*

And speaking of *lol*, I literally laughed out loud when I read this in the Herald. A Whole Paycheck? I mean… Whole Foods? In Lynnhood? I mean… Lynnwood? In the middle of a depression? You’ve got to be shitting me. We’ll see how long it lasts.
