The first official day of candidate filings saw nine individuals officially running for office in Lynnwood.
Current councilmember Mark Smith and Nicola Smith have filed to run for mayor. Two-term Mayor Don Gough was first elected mayor in 2005 and then reelected in 2009.
Former councilmember Jim Smith and Shirley Sutton have filed to run for City Council Position No. 2, which Mark Smith currently holds.
Current councilmember M. Christopher Boyer, who was appointed in 2012, and Michael Moore have filed to run for City Council Position No. 1.
Ian Cotton, Maria Ambalada and Douglas Lovitt have filed to run for City Council Position No.3, which is currently held by councilmember Kerri Lonergan-Dreke. She was elected to the council in 2009.
well so far not a lot for lynnwood to choose from – eh?
lynnwood gets what it deserves and in the past the dude that was ‘elected’ with a shroud of… was it on the up and up and votes counted correctly after the election
one fact for sure free speech at council meeting is not allowed – council and mayor have baptized themselves holy or something – no one can address them as individuals —
right ted-donnie-marky — hey mark remember when you screeched out my name at a council meeting in what appeared to be some kind of rage when i asked for my rights? name etc — that was mature!!!
I am looking forward to serving my neighbors on the City Council and am committed to moving Lynnwood forward, in the direction that the citizens want. Local leadership is all about serving as a trusted steward. Time for the new leadership for the new Lynnwood.
-Ian Cotton
Very nice kick off for Nicola Smith yesterday. Hundreds showed up at Lynnwood Bowl & Skate. Good food and drinks. Really started her campaign off with a bang.
I’ve known Michael Moore for years, he is a really great guy, blue collar, friendly and would make a great addition to the council with his knowledge of zoning, construction and development. Look for him
Marc, I have not known Mike Moore as long but in the short time I have I know he is the cadidate who gets my vote!
