Lynnwood City Council Vice President Stephanie Wright has been selected by a 3-to-1 margin to replace Mike Cooper on the Snohomish County Council.
On Saturday, precinct committee officers from District 3 voted for their recommendation to take Cooper’s seat. Cooper left the County Council after he was appointed the new mayor of Edmonds.
Wright received 33 votes. Edmonds City Councilman D.J. Wilson received 11 votes and Lynnwood Planning Commission member Maria Ambalada received one vote.
“Thanks to all of you who have supported me in this effort! Today was a positive day. On to the next step: council interviews,” Wright wrote on her Facebook page.
The County Council will interview the three candidates and make the final appointment, which is expected to happen within the next couple of weeks.
