YWCA women’s shelter asking for donations

The YWCA’s Pathways for Women shelter is putting out the call for help. It’s due in part to the high price of gas.

Shelter officials say as gas prices increase, they see an increased demand for the basics such as food for the families they work with.

“Typically the majority of food donations come in during the holiday season. We are able to stock up during that time, but come May/June we run out of food. We do receive some donations during the year, but most are expired and very old,” YWCA Regional Director Mary Anne Dillon told us.

They are especially in need of canned fruits and vegetables, tomato sauce, pasta, peanut butter, canned meats and mayonnaise. The shelter is located at 6027 208th Street SW.

Monetary donations may be made online.
